Annotated Bibliography: The Cask of Amontillado
Poe, Edgar Allan. “The Cask of Amontillado.” Literature: Reading Fiction, Poetry, and Drama. Ed. Robert Diyanni. 6th ed. New York: McGraw, 2008. 144-148. Print.
I read the short story “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edger Allan Poe out of the literature book.
“The Museum of Edgar Allan Poe.” Poe Museum. 2010. Web. 12 Oct. 2010. http://www.poemuseum.org/index.php
This Webpage compares Edgar Allan Poe to the American Shakespeare.  It explains his physical appearance as well as an insight to his early childhood.  The museum was founded in 1922 and resides in Richmond, Virginia just several blocks away from his first house and first employment, southern literary messenger.
Carbon, Eric W. Edgar Allan Poe. 2009. University of Connecticut. Web. 12 Oct. 2010. http://people.brandeis.edu/~teuber/poebio.html
This is another one of my critic’s.  Eric criticizes Poe’s subtle use of style, tone, subconscious motivation of characters and serious interpretation of themes.  Questions arise like, “Is Poe as demented as the protagonists of his horror tales?” or “As analytical or psychic as the heroes in his detective or mystery stories?”  This website also shares an additional critic’s opinion which I will use.  Thomas Ollive Mabbot states that this is the most moral of Poe’s tales.  Thomas also analyzes the dramatic irony between Fortunato’s meaning of his name and his own vanity.
Reynolds, David S. “On The Cask of Amontillado.” Literature: Reading Fiction, Poetry, and Drama. Ed. Robert Diyanni. 6th ed. New York: McGraw, 2008. 183-184. Print.
David S Reynolds is one of my critics I use.  He writes a passage explaining his opinion as a critic of the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe
